Right now, there is a lot of excitement around AI.

Every product wants to show you where the AI is. We did the same thing. When we demoed HealthFirstAI, we talked about the AI. It sounds impressive. Hospitals also like being able to say they use AI.

But I’m not sure users actually care.

Doctors don’t care about the technology behind it. They want to do less work.

They don’t care whether the thing saving them ten minutes is an LLM, a rule, or a really good button.

Deep down, that’s what we wanted with HealthFirstAI.

We didn’t want the doctor to think, “I’m using AI.”

We wanted them to speak naturally, have the information appear where it should, and keep going.

The AI should quietly do its job in the background.

We’re getting closer to that.

Maybe the best AI product is one where you eventually stop noticing there’s AI in it at all.
